“Engineers Are at the Center of National Development,” Says Minister Dr. Jimmy Gasore
The Minister of Infrastructure, Dr. Jimmy Gasore, today officiated the Engineering Convention and Annual General Assembly of the Institution of Engineers Rwanda (IER) held at the Kigali Convention Centre.
The Convention was convened to position engineering at the heart of sustainable infrastructure development and national transformation, in line with Rwanda’s long-term development ambitions.
Held under the theme “Aligning Engineering Professional Practice with Rwanda’s Vision 2050,” the Minister emphasized that engineers are key nation builders, playing a critical role in translating government policies and development plans into tangible outcomes that improve citizens’ livelihoods.
“Engineers are at the center of national development. They turn policy and planning into concrete infrastructure that drives economic growth and social transformation,” Dr. Gasore said.
He reaffirmed the Government of Rwanda’s commitment to working closely with professional bodies to promote innovation, strengthen infrastructure resilience, and deliver inclusive infrastructure as the country progresses toward a high-income economy.
Dr. Gasore also commended the Institution of Engineers Rwanda (IER) for its leadership in regulating professional practice, building the capacity of engineers, and upholding ethical standards key pillars for delivering safe, resilient, and high-quality infrastructure nationwide.
The Engineering Convention and IER Annual General Assembly are expected to contribute significantly to strengthening professional engineering practice and aligning the sector with Rwanda’s Vision 2050 development goals.
