Ambassador Urujeni Bakuramutsa Presents Letters of Credence to the President of the Swiss Confederation
Ambassador Urujeni Bakuramutsa, Rwanda’s envoy to the Swiss Confederation, presented her Letters of Credence to Her Excellency Karin Keller-Sutter, President of the Swiss Confederation, during an official ceremony held at the Swiss Federal Palace in Bern.
The presentation marks another milestone in the growing partnership between Rwanda and Switzerland, following the first-ever Bilateral Political Consultations held in Kigali on 3 June 2025, which opened new avenues for cooperation in education, health, innovation, and sustainable development.
During their discussions, Ambassador Bakuramutsa and President Keller-Sutter exchanged views on strengthening economic and investment cooperation, including progress towards a Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) designed to create a predictable and business-friendly environment.
They also explored collaboration between Rwanda’s Kigali International Financial Centre (KIFC) and Swiss financial institutions in promoting sustainable finance, green bonds, fintech innovation, and impact investment.
The meeting further highlighted opportunities to expand private sector partnerships, foster innovation-driven investments, and enhance cultural diplomacy and people-to-people exchanges to deepen mutual understanding between the two countries.
While in Bern, Ambassador Bakuramutsa also met with officials from the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) to advance ongoing cooperation and explore new areas of collaboration.
This milestone follows the appointment of Switzerland’s Resident Ambassador to Rwanda on 15 October 2025, underscoring the two countries’ commitment to deepening a constructive and results-oriented partnership.
Ambassador Bakuramutsa reaffirmed Rwanda’s readiness to continue strengthening bilateral relations with Switzerland, grounded in mutual respect, innovation, and sustainable growth.
