Kigali Mobilizes Leaders and Partners to Resolve Community Problems
This Wednesday, 10 December 2025, the Mayor of the City of Kigali, Samuel Dusengiyumva, together with the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion, Consolée Uwimana, led Kigali City’s Joint Action Meeting, bringing together leaders from various sectors and development partners to review progress on addressing issues affecting families and communities.
The meeting brought together officials from different government sectors and development partners to assess ongoing social challenges in the city. Key issues highlighted as persistent include excessive alcohol consumption, children not attending school, poor sanitation, child malnutrition, child abuse, and cases of men experiencing domestic violence.
Officials emphasized several strategies to address these problems, including strengthening coordination among government bodies, escalating unresolved issues to higher authorities, engaging closely with communities, giving each problem the attention it deserves, and providing additional training to local leaders, especially at the neighborhood (Imidugudu) level.
Mayor Samuel Dusengiyumva and Minister Consolée Uwimana noted that collaboration with partners and proactive community engagement are vital steps toward implementing sustainable solutions to the city’s social challenges.
They highlighted that working together with residents and ensuring local leaders are well-equipped will help create safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.
