Rwandan Security Forces in mozambique donate bicycles to local leaders in Mocímboa da Praia

Rwandan Security Forces deployed in Cabo Delgado Province, Mozambique, have handed over bicycles to local leaders in Mocímboa da Praia District to ease their mobility and strengthen governance at the community level.


The handover ceremony took place at the district conference hall, attended by local government leaders, representatives of Mozambican security organs, and residents.

Helena Bandeira, President of the Mocímboa da Praia District Council, expressed gratitude to the Rwandan forces for their continued support, noting that the bicycles will help leaders reach their communities faster and improve service delivery.
She said: “This support will have an immediate impact by enabling local leaders to reach citizens quickly and provide services more effectively. We thank President Paul Kagame and the Rwandan security forces for responding to the needs of Mocímboa da Praia and Mozambique as a whole.”

On behalf of the Rwandan Security Forces, Col. Emmanuel Nyirihirwe, Commander of the 5th Brigade, emphasized that the donation was meant to solve transportation challenges faced by village leaders. He added that the bicycles will also enhance information flow and reinforce collaboration among security forces, local authorities, and the population.

He noted: “Beyond contributing to security, these bicycles will help strengthen cooperation between security forces, local leaders, and citizens. We are confident they will be of great use in the daily duties of the leaders.”

The bicycles are expected to improve coordination in local governance, ease service delivery, and support ongoing security efforts in Mocímboa da Praia town and its surroundings.
