Rwanda Defence Force Spokesperson, Brig Gen Ronald Rwivanga, delivered a lecture to a group of 20 students and faculty members from the University of Zambia, who are in Rwanda for a study tour from 16 to 23 November 2025.

The session took place at the University of Rwanda Headquarters in Kigali and formed part of the delegation’s programme to learn about Rwanda’s governance, security, and development approaches.

The visiting team was led by Prof Boniface Namangala, Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs at the University of Zambia. Representing the University of Rwanda was Dr Ndikumana Raymond, Deputy Vice-Chancellor responsible for Strategic Planning and Administration, while Mr Sengiyumva Vincent, First Secretary at the Rwanda High Commission in Lusaka, also attended the event.

During his presentation, Brig Gen Rwivanga discussed Rwanda’s peace support operations in the Central African Republic and Mozambique, highlighting them as successful examples of African-led cooperation. He explained that when African nations work together with professionalism, coordinated planning, and timely intervention, they are capable of producing sustainable and meaningful results in restoring stability.

He noted that Rwanda’s deployments were carried out in close partnership with host nations, which enabled effective protection of civilians, support to humanitarian activities, and improvement of security conditions in previously unstable regions. According to him, these missions reinforce the idea that African countries possess both the capacity and the obligation to address challenges affecting the continent.

Brig Gen Rwivanga also emphasized the importance of ethical conduct, respect, and discipline in peacekeeping missions, stressing that these values are essential for building trust and achieving long-term peace.

The visit by the University of Zambia delegation contributes to strengthening academic collaboration between the two universities and demonstrates Rwanda’s continued commitment to sharing knowledge and promoting regional security and cooperation across Africa.
