Minister Sebahizi Inaugurates Key Project in Rubavu District
Minister of Trade and Industry, Sebahizi Prudence, visited Rubavu District on an official working tour to inaugurate major infrastructure projects completed this year and to officially conclude the Western Province Expo, held on the shores of Lake Kivu since December 13, 2025.
The tour began with the official opening of Rambo TVET School in Nyamyumba Sector, a collaborative project between Bralirwa PLC and Rubavu District. Minister Sebahizi said:
"This school will play a key role in the development of the district and the country, as the youth trained here are our greatest asset. Providing quality vocational skills will strengthen our industries and create opportunities for skilled employment."
Next, the Minister inaugurated Unama Ukore Plazza, a modern commercial building constructed by the Unama Ukore Cooperative in Gisenyi, where members engage in trade and garment tailoring. Minister Sebahizi highlighted:
"This is an example of determination and unity. From informal street trading to organized business, this cooperative shows that hard work and commitment can transform lives. Let this inspire others to formalize their businesses and contribute to the country’s growth."
Later, Minister Sebahizi, alongside other officials, officially closed the Western Province Expo, attended by seven foreign countries. In his remarks, he said:
"The expo is a platform to showcase the achievements of our entrepreneurs and demonstrate the progress our country has made. It reflects Rwanda’s growth in trade, industry, and innovation."
To conclude his first day in Rubavu, Minister Sebahizi and local leaders inaugurated the Gisenyi RICO Market, a modern facility with a capacity for 1,500 traders, valued at nearly 6 billion Rwf.
The day’s events demonstrate Rwanda’s commitment to youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable infrastructure, with Rubavu serving as a model district for progress and innovation.
