A police officer based in Busia County is on the run after allegedly killing his estranged wife at a hotel in Silibwet Trading Centre, Bomet County. Detectives say he lured her under the guise of reconciliation before strangling her and fleeing. The victim, a Junior Secondary School teacher from Olenguruone, had separated from him due to a troubled relationship. Investigations are ongoing.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched a manhunt for a police officer based in Busia County over the suspected killing of his estranged wife at a hotel in Silibwet Trading Centre, Bomet County.

According to Bomet County Criminal Investigations Officer Emmanuel Ogao, the officer allegedly lured the woman to the hotel under the pretext of reconciliation. After securing a room for the meeting, he is accused of strangling her to death and fleeing the scene, leaving her body inside the room.

Investigators say the suspect later contacted some of his relatives and informed them about the incident. The disclosure reportedly triggered an alert, prompting police officers to rush to the hotel where they discovered the woman’s lifeless body.

Preliminary findings indicate that the deceased was a Junior Secondary School (JSS) teacher from the Olenguruone area in Nakuru County. She had reportedly been living with her parents in Bomet after separating from her husband due to what sources described as a toxic and troubled marriage.

The DCI has intensified efforts to track down the suspect, who remains at large. Authorities have urged anyone with information that could assist in his arrest to report to the nearest police station.

The body has since been moved to a local mortuary pending postmortem examination as investigations continue.
