Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has suspended a planned visit by a youth group to his rural home in Ichaweri, Gatundu, Kiambu County, citing a lack of formal communication regarding the engagement.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Kanze Dena, the Communication Secretary in the Office of the Fourth President, clarified that the proposed visit had not been officially conveyed to Mr. Kenyatta’s office, making it impossible to facilitate or approve.

“We wish to clarify that President (Rtd) Kenyatta is currently not in a position to host the said group,” the statement read.

The office further advised the youth group to follow proper channels of communication in advance to allow adequate planning and coordination for any future engagements.

Despite the postponement, Mr. Kenyatta reaffirmed his openness to dialogue, emphasizing the importance of respectful and meaningful engagement.

He reiterated that intergenerational conversations play a crucial role in shaping the country’s future and expressed willingness to participate in discussions conducted “in a dignified manner that fosters unity and mutual respect.”

The development comes amid growing interest from youth groups seeking consultations with former national leaders on governance, unity, and the country’s direction.
