A 24-year-old man was fatally stabbed by his 21-year-old brother in Tongaren, Bungoma County, following a dispute over gumboots. The suspect was arrested, and the body taken to Naitiri mortuary as police investigations continue.


A family in Tongaren Constituency, Bungoma County, is in deep mourning following a tragic incident in which a 24-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his younger brother after a disagreement over a pair of gumboots.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening in Shivakala–Lusokho village.

The deceased has been identified as Joshua Wafula Furaha, while the suspect is his 21-year-old brother, Davis Wanyonyi Furaha, according to family members.

Their mother, Doris Nanjala Furaha, said Joshua sustained multiple stab wounds to the head, neck, and chest, resulting in excessive bleeding.

Family members described Joshua as a hardworking young man who played a significant role in supporting the household.

Karima Sub-Location Assistant Chief Fred Wanyonyi Wang’ele confirmed the incident, stating that police officers from Makunga Police Station responded to the scene and arrested the suspect.

The body was moved to Naitiri Sub-County Hospital mortuary as investigations continue.
