High Commissioner Ernest Rwamucyo today received Dr. Mazyanga Lucy Mazaba, Regional Director of the Eastern Africa Regional Coordinating Centre of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), who paid him a courtesy call alongside her delegation. 

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss Africa CDC’s work and its strategic priorities within the region and specifically in Rwanda. 

Discussions focused on strengthening disease surveillance systems and early warning mechanisms aimed at improving preparedness against public health threats. The leaders also explored ways to enhance outbreak detection, response, and containment measures to ensure timely and effective interventions.

Capacity building in primary health care was highlighted as a key pillar in reinforcing resilient health systems capable of responding to emerging and re-emerging diseases.

Both parties commended the strong partnership between Rwanda and Africa CDC, noting the progress made through continued collaboration. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to further deepening cooperation in support of regional health security and sustainable public health development.
