President William Ruto has declared himself the most accomplished leader in Kenya’s history, citing his unique combination of political experience, academic qualifications, and youthful vigor as the driving force behind his results-oriented leadership.

Speaking at State House Nairobi on Monday during a meeting with leaders from Tharaka Nithi County, President Ruto said his long political career and personal journey had equipped him with unmatched insight into the country’s challenges.

“I’ve served as an MP for 15 years and as Deputy President for 10. I’m not too old, I’m young and capable. Kenya has never had a President who is also a PhD holder and that’s me,” he said.

Reflecting on his humble beginnings as a roadside chicken vendor, the President said his lived experience had grounded his understanding of everyday Kenyans’ struggles.

“I was born and raised in the grassroots. I understand Kenya’s problems. There has never been a President with my level of education, knowledge, and experience. That’s why I must perform,” he declared.

Ruto said he draws inspiration from all four of his predecessors praising Jomo Kenyatta’s courage, Daniel arap Moi’s understanding, Mwai Kibaki’s intellect, and the development blueprint he shared with Uhuru Kenyatta.

“With that combination, I have no excuse but to transform the nation,” he emphasized.

As part of his transformation agenda, the President announced the immediate start of procurement for the reconstruction of the notorious Nithi Bridge a deadly blackspot since its initial construction in 1985. The redesigned bridge is expected to cost KSh 7 billion.

“The redesign is complete, and it’s solid. The bridge needs KSh 7 billion. Procurement starts tomorrow. The new design straightens the sharp curves, and construction must be completed before the next general election,” Ruto said.

Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki praised the President’s leadership, pointing to improvements in the economy and infrastructure.

“We’ve seen changes never experienced in any previous regime. It’s a miracle you took office when the shilling was at 169, and now it’s at 130 and no one is even talking about it,” Njuki remarked.

The President also defended his Affordable Housing initiative, calling it one of the toughest but most crucial decisions of his presidency one he believes will shape the country’s future for generations.
