Prime Minister Dr. Nsengiyumva arrives in Addis Ababa for 39th African Union Summit

Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to represent H.E. President Paul Kagame at the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.


The summit, scheduled for 14–15 February 2026, will convene under the theme “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063,” bringing together African leaders to discuss strategies for sustainable development across the continent.

Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, the Prime Minister was received by Ethiopia’s Minister of Peace Mohamed Edris together with State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye.

On the sidelines of the AU Summit, Dr. Nsengiyumva will also attend the second Italy–Africa Summit taking place on 13 February 2026, which will review progress under the Mattei Plan aimed at strengthening structured political and economic partnerships between Italy and African countries.

He is also scheduled to participate on 15 February 2026 in the African Union High-Level Ad Hoc Committee on South Sudan, where discussions will focus on regional peace, stability, and cooperation initiatives.
