The Chinese Embassy in Rwanda has handed over 100 sewing machines and T-shirts to youth at the Kimisagara Yego Center, in a move aimed at strengthening skills development and promoting youth empowerment through vocational training.

The handover ceremony was attended by the Permanent Secretary in charge of Youth Affairs, Ngabo Brave, and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Rwanda, H.E. Gao Wenqi. The donated equipment will support young people who recently graduated from a tailoring vocational course at the center, helping them transition from training to productive employment and entrepreneurship.

Addressing participants, PS Ngabo Brave emphasized that the donation will significantly enhance the beneficiaries’ skills and productivity, while opening new opportunities for economic independence. He expressed appreciation for China’s continued partnership, noting that such support aligns with Rwanda’s efforts to create jobs and empower young people to actively contribute to national development.

Ambassador Gao Wenqi highlighted the vital role of youth in driving socio-economic transformation and reaffirmed China’s commitment to supporting Rwanda’s human capital development. He underscored the strong and growing comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Rwanda, particularly in areas of skills development and youth empowerment.

The initiative marks another milestone in Rwanda–China cooperation, demonstrating a shared commitment to investing in young people as a foundation for sustainable development and inclusive growth.
